The next Ray at Night is this Saturday September 14 from 6-10pm.
I can't imagine a better way to spend a beautiful September evening than grabbing a bite to eat in North Park; following the twinkling lights and notes of live music down Ray Street; and ducking into one (free!) gallery show after another as a painting, a photograph, a pastel portrait catches my eye.
If you missed Ray Street Custom Framing's show opening in August, this Saturday
is the perfect time to come see AIR + WOOD
, an exhibit of pastels and assemblages by Susan E. Roden. Stop by the shop, grab a glass of wine, meet some fellow Ray Street art scene appreciators, and view skateboarding as you've never quite seen it depicted before.
Inspired by her adult son's immersion in skateboarding culture, artist Susan E. Roden applied her faculties for pastel figure drawings to the particular movements and forms of the human body while completing aerials and other maneuvers unique to skateboarding. Metal, wood, and other found materials from urban streets and alleys made their way into Susan's assemblage pieces, also included in the AIR + WOOD
AIR + WOOD
will remian on display at Ray Street Custom Framing through October 5 during our regular shop hours, Tuesday ‑ Saturday, 11am‑6pm.
Thank you again for your support of local businesses and local artists! I hope to see you in the shop soon.
